St. Cloud police officers responded to a medical call Sunday about a non-responsive 22-month-old child.
According to the St. Cloud Police Department, the child was non-responsive due to a reported fall inside the residence. Gold Cross took the child to St. Cloud Hospital for a medical evaluation, the police said.
Investigators started looking into the circumstances around the fall during that time, a St. Cloud Police Department press release said.
The report stated that after the examination at St. Cloud Hospital, the child showed what seemed like “substantial head trauma.” The child was then taken to the Minneapolis Children’s Hospital. The child died the next day as a result of the injuries, the release said.
An active investigation is going on by the Criminal Investigation Division to look into the “cause and manner of the child’s death,” the report stated.
