Following panel discussion on Wednesday in the Atwood Theater, KVSC plans to air the discussion, starting at 1 p.m., after featuring the “Trial by Mob: The Duluth Lynchings” at noon on Sunday, March 1.
“Trial by Mob: The Duluth Lynchings” is based off of a book by Michael Fedo, author of “The Lynchings in Duluth” and “Wednesday Night Panelist,” according to a University Communications press release. Fedo is a Duluth-Native, as well as a retired journalist, and wrote the script for the radio docudrama airing this weekend.
The drama aims to tell the story of the three African-American men — Elias Clayton, Elmer Jackson and Isaac McGhie — that were beaten, and ultimately killed, by a group, said to be ranging in the thousands, after allegations of raping Irene Tusken. According to the Minnesota Historical Society, Dr. David Graham conducted an examination of Tusken, which “showed no physical signs of rape or assault.”
The drama casts 14 characters, which are filled by St. Cloud State students and alumni. The feature was funded in part by Minnesota’s Arts and Heritage Fund.
